Smoking Life
was a month-long project dedicated to designing and constructing 100 permanent ashtrays for the Waking Life festival site. Created by Ali and Chloe De La Horra, with the support of volunteers, this initiative aimed to provide sustainable, long-term solutions for cigarette waste.

Each ashtray was crafted from upcycled, found, natural, or recycled materials, ensuring an eco-conscious approach to design. Strategically placed across the festival grounds, these ashtrays serve as permanent fixtures for future editions—keeping nature free from cigarette waste while seamlessly blending into the landscape.

A Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at Kiek Beyond Festival, Berlin.

Inspired by the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Ali designed a space at Kiek Beyond Festival in Berlin—a pilot grassroots music festival. This unique gathering spot offered festival-goers a place to unwind and enjoy a cup of tea.

Blending found materials, concrete fabric, and a handcrafted wooden base, Ali created an intimate setting that encouraged both deep conversations and playful encounters between friends and strangers. The space became a haven within the festival, where spontaneity and storytelling thrived.
